Nearly 20 years ago, Owen Strand (Rob Lowe) was the lone survivor of his Manhattan firehouse on 9/11. In the wake of the attack, Owen had the unenviable task of rebuilding his station. After a similar tragedy happens to a firehouse in Austin, Owen, along with his troubled firefighter son, T.K. (Ronen Rubenstein), takes his progressive philosophies of life and firefighting down to Texas, where he helps them start anew. On the surface, Owen is all about big-city style and swagger, but underneath he struggles with a secret he hides from the world – one that could very well end his life.

Once in Austin, Owen meets the brilliant and wry chief paramedic Michelle Watts (Liv Tyler), as well as police officer Carlos Reyes (Rafael Silva). He then begins to assemble his new team of diverse and qualified candidates for Firehouse 126, including Marjan Marwani (Natacha Karam), an adrenalin junkie and badass firefighter who also is a devout Muslim; PAUL STRICKLAND (Brian Michael Smith, “Queen Sugar”), a transgender male firefighter, who bravely decided to transition on the job in Chicago and has a gift for observation worthy of Sherlock Holmes; and rookie firefighter Mateo Chavez (Julian Works).

Owen’s toughest challenge may be Judd Ryder (Jim Paarack), who, like Owen, was the sole survivor of the original 126 house after a rescue call ended in tragedy. A gruff cowboy to his core, Judd is married to Grace (Sierra McClain), a 9-1-1 call center operator, and struggles with PTSD, unsure if he ever can be the firefighter he once was.

The series stars Rob Lowe (Parks and Recreation), Liv Tyler (The Leftovers), Sierra McClain (Empire), Jim Parrack (The Deuce), Natacha Karam (The Brave), Brian Michael Smith (Queen Sugar), Ronen Rubenstein (Dead of Summer), newcomer Rafael Silva, and Julian Works also star.

9-1-1 Lone Star premieres on January 19th.

January sees FBI and 9-1-1 receive spin-off series, Party of Five gets a reboot and reimagined, Sir Patrick Stewart steps back into the role of Picard, and a woman hears peoples thoughts in the form of song in Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.

As for books heading to the screen, Jeffery Deaver’s Lincoln Rhyme, Stephen King’s The Outsider, and Jane Austen’s Sanditon all receive television adaptations.

The month also sees the premiere of Deputy, AJ and the Queen, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, Outmatched, and Ragnarok.

Deputy
Deputy blends the spirit of a classic Western with a modern-day attitude and emotionally driven, visceral storytelling. Starring Stephen Dorff and Brian Van Holt. Premieres January 2nd on FOX.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
A young woman discovers she has the ability to hear the innermost thoughts of people around her as songs and musical numbers. Starring Jane Levy and Skylar Astin. Premieres January 7th on NBC.

FBI: Most Wanted
A high stakes drama that focuses on the Fugitive Task Force, which relentlessly tracks and captures the notorious criminals on the Bureau’s Most Wanted list. Starring Julian McMahon and Alana De La Garza. Premieres January 7th on CBS.

Party of Five
The reimagining of the beloved series will follow the five Acosta children as they navigate daily life struggles to survive as a family unit after their parents are suddenly deported back to Mexico. Premieres January 8th on Freeform.

Lincoln Rhyme
A retired forensic criminologist teams up with an ambitious young detective to help capture some of the most dangerous criminals in America. Starring Russell Hornsby and Arielle Kebbel. Premieres January 10th on NBC.

AJ and the Queen
Part Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, part Touched by an Angel. Oh, and RuPaul performs a killer musical number in every drag club. Premieres January 10th on Netflix.

Sanditon
The first ever television adaptation of Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, Sanditon. Starring Rose Williams and Theo James. Premieres January 12th on PBS’s Masterpiece.

The Outsider
Based on Stephen King’s novel, ‘The Outsider’ sees investigators confounded over an unspeakable crime that’s been committed. Starring Ben Mendelsohn and Cynthia Erivo. The series premieres January 12th on HBO.

Everything’s Gonna Be Okay
A neurotic 25-year-old must help raise his two teenage half-sisters. Premieres January 16th on Freeform.

911: Lone Star
FOX’s #1 drama, 9-1-1, expands its reach to the city of Austin, TX, with its first-ever new instalment. Starring Rob Lowe and Liv Tyler. Premieres January 19th on FOX.

Star Trek: Picard
Star Trek: Picard features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard. Premieres January 23rd on CBS All Access.

Outmatched
A working-class couple raise their genius kids in South Jersey. Starring Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs. Premieres January 23rd on FOX.

Ragnarok
Ragnarok is a coming-of-age drama building on and contributing to a new and surprising angle on Norse mythology. Premieres January 31st on Netflix.
