For thousands of generations, the Gunslingers were knights. Sworn to protect us from the coming of the dark.

After much anticipation, the first trailer for the adaption of Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower has arrived and it’s packed full of mystery, fantasy and guns aplenty!

Based on the best-selling series, the film follows the last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), who has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey). Roland is determined to prevent him from topping the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, including Earth, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.

Fans of the series have been anxiously awaiting the trailer as only a few stills and a teaser have been published and now only four months remain until the film is released. The Dark Tower has already faced a long road with the film originally being developed by JJ Abrams until Ron Howard took over in 2010. Yes, 2010. It was then announced in 2015 that Nikolaj Arcel would direct the film with a 2016 release date, however, Sony pushed back the release date twice.

It is said the film will be both an adaption and a sequel to the eight-novel book series, so we could be in for a movie franchise if all goes well. Who knows though, it could end up being another seven years until we get a sequel!

Starring Idris Elba (Thor), Matthew McConaughey (Dallas Buyers Club), Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Tom Taylor. The Dark Tower hits cinemas in August.

In 2014, we were introduced to the Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. The film received mixed reviews, but ultimately many enjoyed themselves despite the ludicrous plot and the overall film in general.

Now in the sequel titled The Golden Circle, our heroes will face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organisation in the US called Statesman.

The Kingsman & Statesman alliance dates back to the day they were both founded and this new adventure will test their agents’ strength and wits to the limit. The two elite secret organisations must band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…

With a whole new organisation joining the film, there has been many familiar actors added to the film, including Channing Tatum, Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges. Funnily enough, their characters are all named after types of alcohol from Agent Jack Daniels to Tatum’s Agent Tequila, which just goes to show the Kingsman humour is going to be ever-present throughout the film.

As for the big bad? Julianne Moore will be taking on the role of Poppy, a lifestyle-guru-turned-terrorist who, of course, is after world domination.

Information on the film began circulating last year with the film releasing a graphic featuring the words: “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.” Hmm. So yes, Colin Firth’s Harry Hart will be returning to the sequel, even though his character received a bullet to the head. We’d love to know how he managed that!

Kingsman alums Taron Egerton, Colin Firth & Mark Strong will return in the sequel. The film also stars Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), Halle Berry (X-Men), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Jeff Bridges (True Grit) and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones).

Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits cinemas September 29.

Katie (Briga Heelan) was raised by an overly involved mother who always told her she was destined for greatness, but now at 30, she’s feeling stuck in her career. Meanwhile, her mother Carol (Andrea Martin) is looking for a change and after 30 years, she decides it’s never too late to follow your dreams and lands an internship at her daughter’s news show. Naturally this is Katie’s worst nightmare, until she comes to realize that with her biggest cheerleader at her side, they both might just make it after all.

It takes a village to deliver the news day in and day out. Their team includes co-anchor Chuck Pierce (John Michael Higgins) as the blowhard, difficult-to-please news desk veteran who intimidates everyone on staff except for Carol. Then there’s Portia (Nicole Richie), the young and hip co-host who brings a different perspective to old-fashioned journalism. Sometimes a shrewd social media genius, other times a bit checked out, but she’s always butting heads with Chuck.

Leading the news team is Greg (Adam Campbell), the dashing, young executive producer and while he is both energetic and a little uptight, Greg is constantly putting out fires and managing the co-hosts’ whims and tantrums. Katie’s closet friend at the office is Justin (Horatio Sanz), the laid back video editor and having spent years editing horrific news footage, he has seen it all. Rounding out the newsroom is Beth (Tracey Wigfield), the creepy resident meteorologist who is far from your stereotypical weather girl.

The series comes from Tracey Wigfield (30 Rock) who serves as creator and executive producer, along with Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, Jack Burditt and David Miner serving as executive producers.

Starring Briga Heelan (Ground Floor), Adam Campbell (Mixology), Andrea Martin (My Big Fat Greek Wedding), Nicole Richie, Horation Sanz (Saturday Night Live) and John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect).

Great News premieres tomorrow on NBC.

The series centers on Sophia (Britt Robertson), who began selling vintage clothes on eBay and, by the age of 28, had built the multi-million dollar fashion empire, Nasty Gal.

Girlboss is created by and executive produced by Kay Cannon (Pitch Perfect), who also serves as showrunner. Charlize Theron (Young Adult), Laverne McKinnon, Christian Ditter (How to Be Single) and Sophia Amoruso will serve as executive producers.

In 2013, BBC produced The White Queen mini-series, which was based on Philippa Gregory’s historical novel of the same name. Four years later, STARZ is now tackling another novel from the Cousins’ War series titled The White Princess.

The White Princess is set three days after the events of The White Queen, but sees a new generation ascend the throne in 15th century England. The series follows the daughter of the “The White Queen”, Princess Elizabeth of York (played by Jodie Comer) as she pledges to marry the recently anointed King Henry Tudor (played by Jacob Collins-Levy). Like all historical and royal marriages, they hope to bring peace to a war-torn country, but with England now unites, their marriage becomes divided. Rumours begin to circulate that Elizabeth’s long-lost brother, Prince Richard, is alive and planning to take the throne. Elizabeth now faces may choices: between being a Tudor wife and York princess and also between her new husband and a boy who claims to be her own blood and the true heir to the crown.

Starring Jodie Comer (My Mad Fat Diary), Jacob Collins-Levy and Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones).

The first trailer for Spike’s television adaption of The Mist has been released and looks like the characters are in for a ride.

Based on the 200-page novella written by Stephen King, the series is set in a small town when a creepy fog suddenly rolls into town filled with otherworldly predators and wreaks havoc on the townies. Since the original source material focused on the town taking shelter in the mall, the series will instead expand further and feature multiple locations to allow for more point of views.

In an interview with EW, show creator Christian Torpe spoke about the differences between the book and the 2007 film.

“I wanted to be respectful to the source material, but my feeling was there was already a great adaptation out there by Frank Darabont. The novella is 200 pages and one location, and we needed to change that to make an ongoing series. But we wanted to remain faithful to the heart of the story.”

The trailer depicts religion and the talk of judgment day, mind control, sex, bloody faces and of course, the creepy mist as it rolls into town.

Starring Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings), Isiah Whitlock Jr. (The Wire), Darren Pettie (Mad Men) and Frances Conroy (American Horror Story). The Mist premieres June 22 on Spike.

Anne is Netflix’s reimagining of the classic Anne of Green Gables novels by L. M. Montgomery. The coming-of-age story is about an outsider who, against all odds and challenges, fights for love and acceptance to find her place in the world.

Set in the late 1890s on Price Edward Island, Anne Shirley is a young orphaned girl who has had an abusive childhood spent in orphanages and the homes of strangers. She is mistakenly sent to live with an ageing sister and brother but the 13-year-old soon transforms the lives of Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, and eventually the entire small town with her unique spirit and brilliant imagination. Her adventures reflect the timeless issues we continue to face including themes of identity, feminism, bullying and prejudice.

The story centers around Hannah Baker, a teenager who committed suicide and leaves behind a series of recordings explaining the thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life. These recordings are found by a fellow classmate, Clay Jensen, who learns about Hannah’s pain, and also discovers he is one of the reasons why.

The series is premiering at the perfect time as the book is celebrating 10 years since its first publication. A 10th anniversary edition of Thirteen Reasons Why was released in December last year, which features exclusive content including an alternate ending, notes and deleted scenes. Another version of the book has also been released to tie-in with the upcoming series. The Netflix tie-in edition features a 16-page full-colour photo insert displaying scenes from the show, and interviews with the cast and crew.
