October 2018 Games

October is a time for ghosts and ghoulies, but also for some amazing gaming. This month brings the release of the highly anticipated sequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption, some high-octane racing fun with Forza Horizon 4, and the introduction of the first Super Mario Party to hit the Nintendo Switch since the consoles release last April.

Therefore, here’s our top 10 gaming releases for October 2018!

October 2018 Games

Forza Horizon 4

Microsoft is once again annihilating the racing/driving genre with the next instalment in their ever-popular Forza Motorsport franchise, Forza Horizon 4. Set on the streets of Britain and boasting a massive 450 strong range of vehicles on release, FH4 is the first in its genre to feature dynamic seasons in a shared open world setting. What does this mean you ask? Whether it’s raining, snowing, Sunday drive sunny or muddy as a no one’s business, your surroundings dictate just how much you will need to adapt to keep that winning streak.

As an added bonus, you can experience the sights and scenery of historic Britain in native 4K for both Windows and Xbox One. Featuring a new open-ended campaign mode as well as solo and multiplayer capabilities, this game will be a hit with any motoring enthusiast and releases exclusively on Microsoft platforms on the 2nd of October.

Assassins Creed Odyssey

Enter Ancient Greece as a would be mercenary, sentenced to death by your family and having nowhere else to turn. Plagued by an unknown past, Odyssey sets you on the path from lowly mercenary to legendary Greek Hero, throwing in some familiar faces along the way.

Following in the footsteps of last years Origins, Odyssey is an open world adventure whereby the player interacts with their surroundings, shaping history along the way through individual choices. Weapon and ability customisation are now a major feature, allowing the user to fully customise their gaming experience and get the best this epic game has to offer. You can visit Ancient Greece on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 5th.

Super Mario Party

Welcome back all your favourite Mario characters with Nintendo’s first major 3rd quarter release with Super Mario Party. Full of fun for the whole family, the classic board game style progression is back with added mini games to keep any group of Switch enthusiasts happy.

With even more newly added features than before, Toad’s Rec Room mode allows you to stretch the fun even further by pairing up 2 Switch consoles to expand your play. Super Mario Party releases exclusively on Nintendo Switch on the 5th of October and will be available on both Nintendo’s Eshop and in stores.

WW2K19

2K Games is back with their yearly instalment of wrestling mania and this year the coveted cover spot went to AJ Styles! Featuring a massive roster of all your favourite WWE stars, 2k19 features both the standard campaign and online multiplayer modes, while also boasting the franchises signature MyCareer where you can play through an individual character’s story before fighting your way to supremacy.

Also, this year, WWE2K19 features a new tower event entitled ‘The Million Dollar Challenge’ whereby players must survive a set number of rounds without any health regeneration, then submit a video of themselves with their winning game to go into the draw to enter a one on one face-off with the cover man himself AJ Styles. Fighting its way onto PS4 and Xbox One, WW2K19 is available as of October 9th.

Disgaea 1 Complete Edition

Go back to where it all started with NIS America’s original Disgaea game being re-released this October on Nintendo Switch!

Prince Laharl awakens to find his kingdom in ruins and The Overlord has died. Along with his faithful Prinnies, a devious vassal named Etna and the angel in training Flonne, Laharl will battle his way to the top of the Netherworld.

Boasting the same gameplay and inclusions as when it was originally released, the Complete Edition also includes a new Etna mode where can battle with never before seen characters and expand upon the story of Netherworld. Level yourself to 9999 and reclaim your kingdom on Switch on October 19th.

October 2018 Games

Call of Duty Black Ops 4

Treyarch and Activision are back with the next in the ever-popular franchise, Black Ops 4. Featuring a focus on tactical game play and increased weighting to player choices, Black Ops 4 returns with their biggest maps yet with the action once again being centred around the multiplayer experience.

The always crowd-pleasing Zombies mode returns with Treyarch’s largest Day 1 offering including three separate experiences; IX, Voyage of Despair and Blood of the Dead. New to the line-up however is Blackout mode, a PvP battle royale mode whereby the map gets smaller as you battle it out to reign supreme. Black Ops 4 releases October 12th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

Lego DC Supervillains

Finally, a game where we can all embrace our inner evil just a little. In collaboration with TT Games, all your favourite DC villains are getting the Lego treatment we all know and love.

Set in an expansive open world environment, DC Supervillains allows you to unleash your inner mischief, wreaking havoc on the world around you. With the Justice League having gone missing, there is no one who can stop your diabolical plans for world domination.

Featuring an expansive roster of masters of villainy including The Joker, Harley Quinn, Lex Luther and Sinestro, the Injustice League hits a PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC near you on October 17th.

Soul Calibur VI (6)

All your favourite combatants are back this month with Soul Calibur 6, the latest in a long line of the popular fighter games from Bandai Namco. Returning to the franchise are crowd favourites such as Yoshimitsu, Mitsuragi and Cervantes, with all new character Geralt of Rivia joining the cast in this journey through 16th century history.

Powered by the Unreal Engine 4, this visually appealing fighter will hit stores as of October 19th on PS4 and Xbox One.

Just Dance 2019

Ubisoft is back in October with their ever entertaining Just Dance franchise in the form of Just Dance 2019 *insert Gaga here*.

Featuring an all new line-up of hits, Just Dance is the loungeroom hit where you whip up a storm and outbattle your buddies for the crown of Best Dancer. Also included is the new adaptive play experience where the game learns your dance style and suggests content which it thinks you may like. Add on Dance Unlimited and players will have access to over 400 songs with which to embrace their inner Dancing Queen. Just Dance 2019 shimmies into stores on October 25th on PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii, WiiU, and Switch.

Red Dead Redemption 2

After vicious rumours, multiple changes and quite a few delays, the follow-up to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption is finally here and it looks MAGNIFICENT!

A prequel to the original game, RDR2 follows Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde Gang after a bank robbery goes wrong and they begin their flight from the authorities across America. Set in 1899, players can immerse themselves in the cowboy culture of the late 19th and early 20th century, while navigating the story of Morgan’s inner struggle.
