The series features real-life characters, including Buzz Aldrin (played by Chris Agos), Neil Armstrong (Jeff Branson), and Deke Slayton (Chris Bauer), the one-time Chief of the Astronaut Office for NASA. As for fictional astronauts, the series follows a group of female astronauts that NASA recruits once Russia lands on the Moon.
