We chat with author of Jonathan Yanez about Hard Reset, which is a fast-paced, unpredictable, and clever take on the LitRPG genre, blending beloved sci-fi and apocalyptic themes to create an intricate new reality.
Hi, Jonathan! Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?
Hi, yes, I’m a retired male model with fourteen year of writing under my belt. I love stories in all forms from books to movies, video games and comic books. I’m so grateful to wake up every morning and do what I love and call it a job.
When did you first discover your love for writing and stories?
Ever since I can remember. I have memories of my mom taking me to the library when I was little and I’d read anything I could get my hands on from Robin Hood and King Aurther to comic books and Greek mythology.

Your latest novel, Hard Reset, is out February 10th! If you could only describe it in five words, what would they be?
High octane mystery with laughs
What can readers expect?
I write to give a sense of escape. Everyone of us has stresses in life we tell no one about. Readers can expect a fun adventure and a place where they can lay down their burden for a few hours and relax.
Where did the inspiration for Hard Reset come from?
I’ve always loved the Jumanji movies. When I though about going into a game it was that story that kept on popping into my head.
Were there any moments or characters you really enjoyed writing or exploring?
The AI in the game was a blast to write. As I got to know him more and more I realized he’s not what we think he is, he’s just lonely.
Did you face any challenges whilst writing? How did you overcome them?
Oh for sure I think we all face challenges in whatever we do but if we stay the course God provides a way. This novel is years in the making so there was a lot of not giving up and coming to terms with trusting the process.
What’s next for you?
We have another release late this year in our Hunters for Hire series. We’ll be gearing up for that along with filming a tv show of one of our other series.
Lastly, what books are you looking forward to picking up this year?
Larry Correia is coming with a new novel called American Paladin. I can’t wait to dive into that story.
