First Trailer For ‘Tomb Raider’ Reboot

The latest trailer for a reboot is here and this time it is for the popular video game franchise, Tomb Raider.

After Angelina Jolie played Lara Croft in 2001, Alicia Vikander will have some big boots to fill. Fans of the Tomb Raider franchise received their first look at Vikander as the new Lara Croft in a poster and 15-second teaser trailer that dropped yesterday and now Warner Bros. has released a full length trailer.

Rumours of a reboot began back in 2007 with GK films purchasing the rights in 2011. However, it wasn’t until 2015 that GK films confirmed Warner Bros. and MGM were on board for the reboot.

The new film will be based on the 2013 Tomb Raider game and follows Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, pushing herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared.

In an interview with Variety, the actor playing the big bad, Walton Goggins, compared the new film to “Raiders of the Lost Ark meets a genre version of the Joseph Conrad novel Victory: An Island Tale”.

Starring Alicia Vikander (The Man From U.N.C.L.E), Walton Goggins (Justified), Hannah John-Kamen (Killjoys), Dominic West (The Wire), Daniel Wu (Into The Badlands), and Alexandre Willaume (Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets).

Tomb Raider is set to hit theatres in March next year.
