I have a small "speculative fiction" online book club where monthly we alternate between one recently published book and an older book. After a couple of good books that were kinda slow burns the three members I've spoken to so far were hooked from the first chapter. The narrative voice really draws you into the world, there are some very unexpected moments, and the world building in this novel is exceptional. I can't wait to discuss this book with our larger group and I'm excited to read the next books in the trilogy.

Thanks for sharing this interview! I am two chapters from finishing The Door on the Sea and I loved reading about the background that fed in to this story! Raven is a frustrating character but certainly adds some humor
The Sparrow is one of my absolute favorites, hope you enjoy reading it this year!
