If you haven’t read Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven Cycle series yet, then you should add it to your TBR list! It follows the intertwining stories of Blue, a psychics daughter who is always told if she kisses her true love, he’ll die; Ronan, who has many secrets; Adam, who wants to leave his trailer park home and make it to college with his pride intact; Gansey, who cheated death once and is searching for a meaning, and the mysterious Noah. If you are already familiar with the books, then you may be interested in the playlist below. This should help if you’re missing the characters and their road trips, and you are looking forward to the day this beautiful series hits our screens in TV form!
The Raven Cycle packs a lot of adventure and feelings into its four books, but to me, it’s all about friendships, secrets, love, wanting, dreams, nightmares, death, ghosts, and of course – discovering magic! You can also find our playlist on Spotify!
Heavy Metal War – SPEAK

Years ago, Maggie mentioned that this would be a good opening credits song if The Raven Boys had a TV show. I can definitely see how it has that opening titles sort of feel. Now the TV series has actually been announced, I feel it’s worth a mention on this playlist.

Maggie claims to have listened to this song nearly 100 times whilst writing one of Adam’s scenes in The Raven King (she explains more here). A very important song as part of her writing process, so it deserves a place on this playlist.

Unaware of where I’m going / Or if I’m going anywhere at all / But I know I’ll take the leap / If it is worth the fall / So long as the blood keeps flowing / I’ll set a sail and swim across / I’m not looking to be found / Just want to feel (un)lost

Run away with me / Lost souls and reverie / Running wild and running free / Two kids, you and me / And I say / Hey, hey hey hey / Living like we’re renegades”
Personally, I liked to listen to “Can’t Pretend” by Tom O’dell. It got me in the mood.
