After only three episodes, Freeform’s new supernatural drama Beyond has been renewed early for a second season.
The news was announced at the show’s Television Critics Association press tour where network president, Tom Ascheim, surprised the cast and producers.
“Our goal for launching Beyond was to give the audience outstanding content in the way they want to watch it,” said Ascheim. “The response has far exceeded our greatest expectations, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and we can’t wait to bring more Beyond to its growing fan base.”
Prior to the television debut, Freeform released the entire series online for people to binge, which generated 7 million digital views in the first week alone.
The drama follows a young man who wakes up from a coma after 12 years and discovers new supernatural abilities that propel him into the middle of a dangerous conspiracy. Starring Burkley Duffield (Warcraft), Jonathan Whitesell (The 100), Dilan Gwyn and Romy Rosemont (Glee)
Beyond airs Mondays on Freeform.
