We chat with author Tylor Paige about Camera Stays On, which is a deadly addictive horror/slasher romance filled with dangerous desires on a film set where no one is safe.
Hi, Tylor! Can you tell our readers a bit about yourself?
Hello! My name is Tylor Paige, (Ty), I write (w)horror romance, a subgenre of both horror and romance where both have equal page time and cannot exist without the other. I specifically focus on slasher horror, although I do like to explore other subgenres of horror on occasion, like paranormal. When I’m not writing, I volunteer at my local community theater.
When did you first discover your love for writing and stories?
I’ve always wanted to write. Since as long as I could remember. I used to hand write and eventually type out my favorite stories into word documents and notebooks until I started creating my own original works around middle school. I can’t think of a time I didn’t want to write books.
Quick lightning round! Tell us:
- The first book you ever remember reading: My Father’s Dragon by Ruth Styles Gannett
- The one that made you want to become an author: The Poky Little Puppy (A Little Golden book)
- The one that you can’t stop thinking about: Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens
Your latest novel, Camera Stays On, is out now! If you could only describe it in five words, what would they be?
Psycho slashers, love triangles, HEA.
What can readers expect?
With CSO you can expect a fast paced story, cheap thrills and kills, and a high heat, high tension love triangle with an HEA.
Where did the inspiration for Camera Stays On come from?
I have always wanted to write a story about a woman who falls for her ex’s brother after a failed wedding. I was just lucky enough that my publishers liked the idea too.
Were there any moments or characters you really enjoyed writing or exploring?
I really loved the last stand off between the brothers, which leads to the end for Sawyer. I think that’s my all-time favorite part. I loved exploring the sibling dynamic. It’s a much more complex love triangle when it’s someone you can’t just walk away from.
Did you face any challenges whilst writing? How did you overcome them?
I was actually dead-smack in the middle of a tour when this book was due. I consumed a lot of caffeine and did my best.
What’s next for you?
I’m not entirely sure what I’m allowed to announce quite yet, (But feel free to ask my publisher!) but I am hanging out with Page & Vine for a few more books, and I cannot wait until we start revealing things.
