She’s got everything planned—including when she’ll have kids. Until something completely unplanned turns her world upside down.

World-famous Whitney “Sahara” Richardson is at the top of her game. With four Grammys, an Oscar nod, and a billion-dollar clothing line, her career is skyrocketing. Even her headline-grabbing dating life is looking up. And if everything goes as planned, marriage and children are just a few years away—and they will come in that order.

That is…until a mix-up at the fertility clinic where her eggs are stored puts the cart before the horse. Oops. Whitney suddenly has a daughter…whose biological father is reluctant to share her.

Damn.

This whole situation was out of control. Before it was all over, the woman would have partial custody, his daughter would have a room in her Beverly Hills mansion, and his life would be turned upside down.

Dr. Franklin had given him the distinct impression Ms. Richardson was coming there to sign the papers and dash. Instead, not only was she swooning over pictures of Haylee, but she now wanted to meet her.

No. This time, he was putting his foot down. “I’m sorry, but—”

“Please.”

Dammit. He could see who his daughter got her eyes from. Her beautiful mother. They were big and brown and framed by long, thick lashes that curled at the tips. Currently, they pinned him in place with a look of entreaty, making her extremely hard to resist.

“As you just said,” she continued, “this isn’t easy for me. I didn’t know how I’d react, but after seeing her, I have to meet her—see her in person. Because in my heart, I know that if I don’t, I’m going to regret it for the rest of my life.”

Jesus H. Christ. What the hell was he supposed to say to her? What was he supposed to do now? She didn’t seem the type to take no for an answer.

“I promise,” she said, dogged in the face of his lack of response. “It’ll just be the one time. And Haylee is still so young, she won’t even remember me.”

Myles didn’t frighten easily. In his prior life as a criminal defense attorney, fear had been a luxury he couldn’t afford in order to do his job right. But the prospect of Whitney Richardson meeting Haylee scared the shit out of him.

As sure as he was that the world revolved around the sun, he knew the woman who’d been staring at his daughter’s picture with her heart in her eyes wouldn’t be able to walk away after she met her. Not after she held Haylee in her arms. She was going to want her, full stop. And she had the means to make that a reality and, in turn, engage him in the fight of his life.
