“I thought this whole thing was going to be over, ” says Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) in the trailer for season 2 of 13 Reasons Why.
Last week we received the announcement that the season would hit Netflix on May 18th, and now today, Netflix has released the official trailer for the second season of 13 Reasons Why and it reveals an intense mystery surrounding Polaroids.
Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.
Judging by the trailer, it seems the series will be heading in a darker direction and will hopefully answer several questions we all had at the end of season one: How will Jessica heal in the aftermath of her assault? Will Bryce be brought to justice? How will Clay move on from the devastating loss of Hannah? What happened to Alex? What choices will Tyler make in the face of his social isolation?
The trailer song says it all with lyrics like “How far does the dark go?”, especially when Clay finds the first Polaroid stating that “Hannah wasn’t the only one”. Speaking of Hannah, despite Katherine Langford’s character being dead, it seems the memory of her will haunt Clay and possibly even guide and aiding him to find the truth about this latest mystery.
In preparation for the launch of Season 2, new resources will be added to 13ReasonsWhy.info including an updated Discussion Guide and a new Discussion Series – a set of videos where cast address issues in the series including bullying, sexual assault and drug abuse. The series also plans another after-show, Beyond the Reasons, with the show’s actors, experts, and educators breaking down the series.
Season two also stars Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Derek, Luke, Christian Navarro, Miles Heizer, Devin Druid, Annie Winters, Tommy Dorfman, Brian D’Arcy James, Sosie Bacon, Steven Weber and Samantha Logan. 13 Reasons Why is written, created and produced by showrunner Brian Yorkey, with executive producers Selena Gomez, Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Steve Golin and Joy Gorman.
