The highly anticipated second season of Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why received a date announcement today, and it’s much closer than you would think!
After the first season was released March 31st last year, Netflix announced with the release of a video that the new season will hit the popular streaming site on Friday May 18th! Featuring Depeche Mode’s 1993 single ‘I Feel You’, we see glimpses of each character as what they want people to see, along with another side of them that shows issues or emotions captured in the form of a Polaroid.
Season 2 picks up in the aftermath of Hannah’s death and the start of our characters’ complicated journeys toward healing and recovery. Liberty High prepares to go on trial, but someone will stop at nothing to keep the truth surrounding Hannah’s death concealed. A series of ominous Polaroids lead Clay and his classmates to uncover a sickening secret and a conspiracy to cover it up.
The first season of the series, based on Jay Asher’s young adult book of the same name, centers around the death a high-school girl, Hannah (Katherine Langford), who has left behind a series of 13 cassette tapes for her friend Clay (Dylan Minnette) explaining what led her to eventual suicide. The show also stars Christian Navarro, Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, Justin Prentice, Miles Heizer, Brian d’Arcy James, and Kate Walsh.
In preparation for the launch of Season 2, new resources will be added to 13ReasonsWhy.info including an updated Discussion Guide and a new Discussion Series – a set of videos where cast address issues in the series including bullying, sexual assault and drug abuse. The series also plans another after-show, Beyond the Reasons, with the show’s actors, experts, and educators breaking down the series.
We suggest to start rewatching the series now and preferably, watch it with a friend or family member. You can find it on Netflix here.
